He is afraid that other lower caste may disrespect him because of his incompatible appearance with his rank. Nevertheless, he identifies with the caste system. He claims that he does not want to be “more on his own, not so completely a part of something else, not just a cell in the social body” (90 Huxley). Part of it belongs to the Savage Reservation and part of it to the lost high culture.īernard is a fake genius who attempts to distinguish himself from “ordinary people” and he is a coward who speaks more than he does. He is twisted by two contradictory societies and cultures. John, who commits suicide in the end, cannot adapt to the “brave new world”. He is the only one, from my perspective, who can start a pleasing new life. On the contrary, Helmholtz, having the same thought as Bernard and also being sent to the island, does not regard it as a punishment. Bernard wants to detach from the community but because he is as timid as a rabbit, he is forced to be exiled to the island. However, because of their personality flaw and their different choices, they end up with distinct future life.

John, Helmholtz and Bernard all realize the inhuman and abnormality of the society.
